This year’s theme focus was Collaborative practice: Working in partnership with children and families, showcasing how evidence-informed practice and community partnerships can transform service delivery.

Across the sessions, presenters shared practical strategies and ideas for tackling complex challenges, from embedding cultural knowledges and trauma-informed approaches to leveraging technology and co-design. The symposium highlighted five key streams of innovation:

  • Showcasing Aboriginal-led Evidence A session hosted by Symposium sponsors VACCA, highlighting service models that centre community and culture.
  • Place-based and Community Collaboration – Breaking down silos to create collective impact and stronger local partnerships.
  • Prevention and Early Intervention – Creative programs that stop harm before it starts and build resilience early.
  • Embedding Lived Experience and Client Voice – Moving beyond tokenism to authentic inclusion and cultural change.
  • Complex Needs and Integrated Practice – Evidence-informed models that respond to layered challenges like trauma, disability and cognitive impairment.
