The Youth focussed day at the Open Symposium 2024 offered a dynamic range of presentations focused on amplifying youth voices and supporting young people’s development in various settings.
Highlights included sessions such as “It isn’t about co-design: Improving practice in youth participation,” led by the incredible Project Rockit team, who shared insights on fostering genuine youth participation. Other presentations included “Diverge – The chance to take a different path,” from Junction Support Services showcasing methods to involve young people in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences, and “Richmond Youth Hub: The creation of a youth-led space which enhances safety, supports social connection and fosters positive pathways for young people in a public housing setting,” a discussion centered on co-design in youth-focused programs.
The day was designed to highlight youth-led initiatives and offer practitioners valuable insights into creating inclusive, supportive environments for the next generation.
