What does it take to define your outcomes, set up an organisation-wide measurement tool and manage your data in a way that it is not a burden for your team or the families/children that you are working for?

What are those systems and processes that look beyond outputs and support teams to assess meaningful information for program improvement?

What does it take to implement and de-implement for change?

Our fourth instalment in our Embedding Evidence series, explored these questions and showcased steps and strategies taken by two organisations to navigate these questions.  OPEN’s Embedding Evidence series started in 2021 and highlights lessons about the evidence journey of several sector organisations, showing their different pathways, strategies, and approaches to embedding data and evidence into their organisational practice and systems. Take a look at the previous recordings here.

Presentations:

  • Dr Lynette Buoy (CEO) and Marija Dragic (Manager – Evidence, Innovation and Practice), Windermere Child and Family Service with Warren Cann (CEO), Parenting Research Centre shared their insights from implementing a new practice framework and outcomes measurement approach across their organisations. They took us step by step through the design, implementation and evaluation processes which has strengthened their service approach and collects information from clients to inform improvements.
  • Jessica Graham Franklin (Associate Director), Social Ventures Australia presented on the SVA free online platform called ‘Review’, an outcomes measurement tool for organisations delivering youth unemployment programs. The Review for Outcomes Platform identifies elements of good practices and intended outcomes and provides measurement tools and data management platform. The tool seeks to build capability, reduce burden, and support data consistency to strengthen the evidence focus within organisations and contribute to the knowledge base about what works in addressing youth unemployment. Jessica outlined the development process, the tools features, user experience and provided a small demonstration of the tool.
