Join us as we celebrate the Family Violence and Sexual Violence Knowledge Project and reflect on what has been achieved through this unique cross-peak collaboration.
As this funded phase of the project comes to a close, we’ll look back at the knowledge, connections and shared learning that have developed across the family violence, sexual violence and child and family services sectors – and consider why multidisciplinary practice and cross-sector knowledge sharing remain so important.
The event will bring together research, practice and partner perspectives. We’ll take a tour through key activities and achievements, hear snapshots and reflections from project partners, and share findings from our impact survey about how the Knowledge Hub, events and FVSV Updates have been used and valued.
The session will include a keynote presentation from Professor Kate Fitz-Gibbon, who also presented at the project launch during the OPEN Symposium 2024, alongside presentations from project partners. Safe and Equal and Sexual Assault Services Victoria will share findings from recent project work focused on strengthening early intervention responses for children and young people aged 10–14.

Professor Kate Fitz-Gibbon
Kate Fitz-Gibbon is a Professor (Practice) with the Faculty of Business and Economics at Monash University and an Honorary Professorial Fellow with the Melbourne Law School. Kate is an international research leader in violence against women and children, perpetrator interventions, and the impacts of policy and practice reform. Kate has advised on homicide law reform and family violence reviews in Australia and internationally. Her research has been cited by the High Court of Australia. In 2021 Kate was appointed Chair of Respect Victoria by the Victorian Government. In 2024, Kate was selected as part of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders 2024 Class.
